Jan Dormer, President

Dr. Jan Dormer grew up in Brazil, and has taught English to learners of all ages in diverse countries. Jan has authored seven books on language teaching and learning, including Teaching English in Missions (2011, WCP), Language Learning in Ministry (2021, WCP) and ELT Basics (2023, TESOL Press). She is Director of TESOL and ESL at Taylor University (Indiana, USA). 

Bradley Baurain, Past President

Bradley Baurain has taught for more than 30 years in China, Vietnam, Canada, and the United States. He is currently leading both the undergraduate and graduate TESOL programs at Moody, and is the co-editor of the International Journal of Christianity and English Language Teaching. He has also been editing or writing for Moody's Today in the Word devotional guide since 1993.


Shoshannah Hernandez, President Elect

Shoshannah Hernandez serves as the Institute for TESOL Studies Director and Assistant Professor of Education at Huntington University in Huntington, IN. She has traveled to and taught in various places around the globe, but has spent most of her time teaching English or training teachers in China. Teacher education and development is her passion, and she's able to focus on that in her current role at HU while living in Huntington with her husband, Mauricio.


Adriana Schmidt, Secretary


Adriana is an independent Dual Language and Immersion Education Consultant with 20+ years of experience in diverse language development modalities. Her goal is to foster high academic and linguistic achievement in dual language programs. She holds a postgraduate diploma and M. Ed. from the University of Minnesota, lives in São Paulo, Brazil, with her husband and two children.

Joshua Detherage, Treasurer


Joshua Detherage is an Instructor of ESL and M.A. TESOL at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky. He has an M.A. in TESOL and Intercultural Studies from Wheaton College. Joshua spent five years in Mongolia working with English teachers and English education students and has over 10 years' experience in teacher training. He loves working with international students and is passionate about preparing them for academic success in a U.S. university.


Megan Beard, Communications Coordinator

Megan Beard has lived and worked in Northeast Asia for 18 years, serving in community development, ministry training, and international church planting. She primarily teaches at the university level but also serves with church and community-based language programs. She is currently the TESOL liaison between Handong Global University and Taylor University and serves as adjunct faculty in TESOL at both institutions.




Dana Saito-Stehberger, Website Manager


Dana Saito-Stehberger is currently working at UC Irvine School of Education examining how English language learners can best be supported in learning computational thinking skills. She has taught English to international students for 25 years and has been on the revolutionary journey of following Christ for 35.

Waheed Anthony, Member-At-Large (International CELEA Rep) 

Anthony Waheed completed his M.A. in English, B.Ed. in 2010 and started teaching English in Pakistan. Currently, he's been serving as a Lecturer in English(Assistant Professor soon) for the last five years at Wapda Postgraduate College, Tarbela, a government institute. Moreover, being a passionate evangelist, he's always ready to share the Word of God especially using the tool of English Language teaching.
